About Hand / Eye Coordinations

Hand / Eye Coordinations is a production company devoted to making original comedy shorts and feature movies. Our goal is to make the most original and professional movies possible, and have them seen by the greatest number of people, without spending - or feeling we need to spend - hundreds of thousands of dollars to do it.

Our approach is to concentrate on writing and performance, (aspects of "no" or "low" budget movies that are often ignored), to design projects that utilize available resources (without obsessing over a lack of state-of-the art equipment and facilities), to make the movies as unique as possible (without being weird for the sake of weirdness), and to always try to expand what we're capable of.

Even what the movie industry considers "low-" or even "no-budget" filmmaking is outside the reach of most filmmakers. Hand / Eye's strategy is to make the movie by any means necessary (although we don't mean to come across as militants), and then use it as a stepping stone and calling card to get the resources for the next project.

We currently shoot movies using digital cameras and technology. This isn't because we're in love with the digital aesthetic, but for the unfashionable reason that digital is the affordable medium right now. We won't adopt an insincere "experimental" label just because we're using digital, and we'll switch to film just as soon as we can afford it. In the meantime, we are lucky that digital fare is becoming more acceptable in the mainstream.

Hand / Eye Coordinations is always looking for producers, artists, actors, editors and designers interested in a process of working that supports creativity, rather than simply trying to emulate what movie shoots are "supposed" to be like.
